About us

The abbey garden centre started flower cultivation in the 1960s and provides regional jobs as well as adding value. With a greenhouse area of 16,000 m² and an outdoor area of 4000 m², the garden centre is a regional supplier of blossoming one-year potted plants and potted herbs.

Our products can be purchased at selected flower shops, garden centres and retail partners. Our competences are reflected in the production of one-year potted plants and organic herb pots.

With longstanding experience in the business, we boast qualified staff who demonstrate a high degree of expertise and loyalty to the company. The product range spans the whole year.

We are happy to produce and cultivate according to individual customer wishes. In addition, we offer the possibility of personalisation through individual labels and pot designs. This underlines our flexibility and commitment to customer satisfaction.

We do not offer any individual private sales.

Natural infestation reduction

The natural infestation reduction among the one-year potted plants and organic potted herbs is through the use of adhesive traps. These are yellow cardboard strips with adhesive that insects and vermin fly onto.

Protection of the moors

The extraction of peat is directly associated with the decrease in moor landscapes. To ensure the preservation of moors, the abbey garden exclusively uses soil with reduced peat.

Useful plants

Also referred to scientifically as antagonists, useful plants are the natural enemies of vermin. Useful plants combat and devour the vermin and free and protect the plants and organic herbs at the abbey garden.

Stift Wilhering

The Wilhering abbey church is one of the most significant rococo buildings in the German-speaking region. After the 1733 fire, it was rebuilt according to plans by the master bricklayer Johann Haslinger over the containing walls of the burnt-down church, a three-nave basilica with a transept and straight choral nave, and was completed in 1751.

The abbey community at Stift Wilhering consists of 20 monks, of which 19 priests and a lay priest (status 01.12.2019), who belong to the Cistercian order.

Here you can find the list of the abbots of Wilhering.

The Stiftsmuseum Wilhering encourages independent discovery, conveys messages and asks questions. In particular, it is intended as a place that invites visitors to enjoy peace and quiet time and time again.

The museum comprises seven exhibition rooms and seven themes. And although each of the themes is individual, they are all interlinked. The focus of Stift Wilhering remains its history, the spirituality of the Cistercians and their tasks, as well as the personalities at the abbey. Particular importance was attached to offering the visitors two information levels: an information overview of the respective theme of a room and the option of more in-depth information on individual content, depending on one's level of interest. In addition, various interactive elements offer an interesting tour even for younger visitors.

A focus on sustainability

As part of our complete packaging transition until 2023, the focus in 2021 was on the changing of all pots and labels on circular polypropylenes. The pots and labels produced up until now as new goods are now made 100% of recycling material and are 100% recyclable. This allowed the saving of around 40,500 kg CO2. Since 2022, we have been focussing on transport containers and brackets.

The biomass thermal plant has been in operation since November 2009. The energy gained from this ensures sustainable production through the responsible handling of our resources.
