Ingredients:

  • 1 Pkg. efko Eferdinger Sauerkraut
  • 1 pkg. puff pastry
  • 1 small onion
  • 30 g diced bacon
  • ½ red pepper
  • 1 clove of garlic
  • 1 tbsp. butter
  • 1 tbsp. flaxseed
  • ½ tsp caraway
  • ground black pepper
  • ground nutmeg
  • 2 tbsp. breadcrumbs
  • butter to brush on the strudel

Preparation:

Peel the onion and chop it finely, dice the paprika and chop the garlic. Heat the butter in a pan, roast the onion, bacon and paprika, add the garlic and heat briefly. Let cool in the pan.

Soak sauerkraut in water for a mild taste and squeeze it out well. Add the cooled ingredients, season with flaxseed, caraway, pepper and nutmeg and thicken with the breadcrumbs.

Roll out the puff pastry, cover with filling, shape into strudel and brush with melted butter.

Bake in the preheated oven at 200 ° C for about 30 minutes until golden.
